According to the request of Mr. Akbari, the general manager of the Mazandaran Department of Fisheries, to visit the fish and shrimp farms of the Sadaf Mahi Company, the department of aquaculture of the Iranian Artemia Research Center, Mr. Ahmadi and Dr. Abbaspour were sent to the region. After the meeting with Dr. Ismaili, the manager of fisheries and aquaculture in Babolsar city, and Mr. Monemi, the deputy director of aquaculture of the Mazandaran Department of Fisheries, they visited the 60-acre fish and shrimp farms of the Sadaf Mahi Company. By investigating and assessing the physico-chemical, ecological, and meteorological factors of the region, these farms were recognized the right place for the construction ofArtemia culture ponds with the potential of private sector investment. In the following, Mr. Ahmadi by providing scientific guidance called for the construction ofArtemia culture ponds with geomembrane layers.
