Fisheries research and studies activities of the I.R. of Iran in territorial waters of north, south and inland waters, goes back to 80 years ago. These activities were further expanded after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1978. In 2003, following changes in the organizational set up and approval of the Higher Education Board, they were affiliated to the Agricultural Research and Education Organization of the Jihad-e-Agriculture Ministry
