The Bangladesh delegation visited the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center

Following the recent drought, the Khuzestan Water and Power Authority signed a memorandum of understanding. A group of researchers in agriculture and fisheries from Bangladesh visited the water resources of the province in order to provide compensatory and operational solutions using wastewater, brackish water and saline water. In this regard, Dr. Frank Riesbeck, the professor at the Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany, Dr. Mahmoud Yahya, the head of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute, and Dr. Kohinor, the senior researcher for freshwater fish at the institute visited the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center and the farms and sources of wastewater in the south of the Khuzestan province. On the first day of the visit, the Abzi farm located in the city of Dezful was visited. During this visit, the capacity and potential of a leading farm in mechanization in the province was studied. At the end of the visit, the issue of reducing water use and water recycling was discussed at a meeting. On the second day, they went to the Bandar-e Emam Khomeyni and visited the facilities and equipment at the Bandar-e Emam Khomeyni marine fish research station and became familiar with the abilities of the station in the field of marine fish reproduction and production. The trip was followed by a visit from the Martyr Ahmadian fish farm located in Khorramshahr, the Naseri basin and the pilot project for sea bass farming in sugar industry wastewater. On the third day, they went to the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center. After visiting the laboratories and reproduction hall of the center, the potentialities and the feasibility of implementing joint projects were reviewed at a meeting with the presence of the head and research experts of the center. At the end, the institute became responsible for setting up proposals related to aquaculture and introducing salt tolerant fish species under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Khuzestan Water and Power Authority and the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council.
