Laboratory Equipments and Instruments of IFRO
Since in IFRO the main focus is conducting research and projects on aquatic organisms and their environment (marine and fresh waters), and because the organization is currently being considered as the main body for such researches in national level, in the country, the affiliated laboratories have been designed and equipped all over the country with modern instruments and equipments (in accordance with the international standards) to ensure that the present and future commitments of the organization will be fulfilled.
IFRO has more than 80 specialized and well-equipped laboratories with a total area of about 7500 m2 which are located in 13 affiliated research centers. In these laboratories different types of biotic specimens and a-biotic samples from various components (water, sediment and biota) of important aquatic ecosystems of the country are prepared and analyzed.
Latest in technology brought in IFRO laboratories such as:
Gas Chromatography (GC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC),Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer, Flame and Flameless Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS), UV-visible Spectrophotometer, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Electrophoresis, CHNOS Analyzer, Oceanic Data Reorder and Sampler (CTD and Rosette) BOD Incubator, COD Analyzer, Fat and Protein Analyzers, Food and Feed Analyzer. Moreover, different types of Microscopes with technical appurtenances, Deep Freezers, Freeze Dryers, Centrifuges, Microtome, Microbalances, Multi-parameter Water Quality Meters.
Appropriate facilities for research on aquaculture (including standard different type and size of farms, ponds, aquaria and tanks) are also available in several affiliated research centers, which are being used to carry out many research projects in this regard.
